On Sunday February 5 the long-awaited premiere of Southwest Florida Jewish Pioneers series film #18 “Spaiser Family Story” took place at Chabad of Naples, in itself an historic event, since it marked the first time Jewish Historical Society of Southwest Florida had an event at the Chabad, which is the first-ever synagogue located within the city limits of Naples, Fl.

The film is made from an eyewitness account by Mitch Spaiser, who first came to SWFL in the 1960’s, and whose parents frequented it since 1946. Mitch became the very first Jewish student of Edison College, Naples Campus (now, FSW) and, as he said, most likely, the college’s very first program graduate.
The notably historic moments in the film, detailing the small town life of the 1970’s, include YMCA test in snake and alligator infested waters, Vanderbilt Beach guard story, visiting prospective customers in Cape Coral and Everglades and other charming recollections of times gone by.
