Usually history is what happened long ago and those who left a mark are gone. We are very fortunate to be in the presence of eyewitnesses. They helped establish the early Jewish community. Some of them are still very active and continue to contribute to its further development and progress. The experience of being a pioneer of the community is unique and fragile. As human beings, we react and reflect very differently and can only hope to have the clarity in our recollections. The eyewitness testimonies are of events they were a part of, and are our most precious archives. Their stories carry their sentiments and may have some factual inaccuracies. The exhibits provided by the eyewitnesses for archival use may help clarify any discrepancies, if you are a true historian and seek impeccable timelines. If you are an emotional historian, you will be thrilled to virtually meet them. Our goal is to have a film about each individual featured on these pages and to add as many individual stories as needed.
